What can cure a heart valve problem?
I had a doctor who was suspicious of me having a heart valve problem. I don't want to be on medication for the rest of my life. I only want to change my diet, pray, exercise, and meditate. I don't believe the doctor has that cure for that problem that's if it was a heart valve problem.
- ANSWER:
Depends the severity.
A mild heart valve problem usually doesn't require any intervention.
A severe one requires surgery (no way around it)
In mild cases, you'd be monitored during your check ups to see whether it's progressed.

Is Amoxicillin good to cure heart worms in dogs?
My german shepherd was diagnosed with heart worms today. The vet prescribed amoxicillin, prednisone & pet-tinic. Are these meds the best for my big baby? I'm just really concerned of course. Any positive encouragement or advice from pet owners who have dealt with this illness will be appreciated.
Thanks
It's not a point of second guessing a professional...it's really getting input from pet owners who have dealt with heart worms. Negative comments are not helpful and will be reported. Thanks to those who added value.
- ANSWER:
Not at all. Amoxicillan is an antibiotic, prednisone is a steroid and pet-tinic is a vitamin supplement. I would ASSUME this is the first step in your dogs treatment and your vet is prepping your dog for the real whammie medicines that kill the heartworms. Heartworm treatment is very very hard on a dog's immune system and it sounds as if your vet is trying to strengthen your dogs system before using the toxins (yes, toxins) to kill the heartworms. Do as your vet says...he has your best interests at heart. Please spread the word to your friend that, in the case of heartworms, prevention is definitely the way to go. Best of luck for you and your pup.

What's the best way to cure heart burn without using medication?
I'd like to find a home remedy that settles heart burn without side effects on my unborn baby.
I've just tried the baking soda it was a bit hard to stomach but I'm already starting to feel the difference
I drink fat free milk and it hadn't helped at all
peppermint tea sounds great thank you
- ANSWER:
I have heartburn and am listing several things that should help.
Many find that ingesting ginger with a meal helps to reduce suffering and stomach upset. Fresh ginger can be ground and added to foods or taken in tea or capsule form. Herbalists recommend consuming 500mg. of ginger with a full glass of water after each meal.
Enzymes which help to speed the digestive process often eliminate heartburn altogether. Papaya enzymes are sold in chewable capsule form, and are taken immediately following a meal with a full glass of water. Both ginger and digestive enzymes are not medically proven to help with symptoms.
Consuming more fiber nutrient foods is another natural way to alleviate future suffering. Bulk foods help to absorb excess acid and gas, and allow your body to rid itself of toxins more quickly. For those who respond poorly to high fiber vegetables, fiber pills and beverages are an easy alternative.
The more water you drink, the less likely you are to suffer the pains of heartburn. Drinking at least 8-glasses of water each day will rid the body of toxins and allow your body to expel acid naturally.
Green tea has been used for centuries in Japan as an after dinner drink. Green teas aid the body in the digestion process, and help soothe the stomach's sensitive tissues.
Herbal teas containing even trace amounts of peppermint, chamomile, ginger, licorice root and catnip help the stomach lining repair itself. Often, one cup of tea following dinner is enough to stave off future heartburn episodes.

How do people get cure from Heart Attack ?
I'm just asking this question is because my project about this on infectious disease is due tomorrow so I need informations about it and also what kind of medicine that can cure people from it.
- ANSWER:
A heart attack, formally called a Myocardial Infarction, is the result of a blockage of blood flow (O2) in one of the coronary arteries to the myocardium (heart muscle) . This results initially in ischemia (recoverable, mild pain and shortness of breath ), progresses to injury (still recoverable, pain and definite symptoms of a heart attack) and finally into necrosis (actual death of the myocardial tissue, this is completely non-reversible!!!)....The tissue dies, No re-growth, recovery at all. There are possible interventions to decrease the damage (such as aspirin), but there is nothing at all that can be done once the acute Myocardial Infarction has resulted in necrosis....
Hope this helps!!!!!!

Does beer cure a broken heart permanently? Or does it only treat it?
I have a broken heart, and when I drink, I feel much better (no lie!). Sometimes i feel good for a while, but then something seems to always trigger my broken heart again. Will drinking a few ever cure my broken heart completely?
- ANSWER:
Alas, it does not. I am sympathetic to your situation as I think we all can be. Who has not felt the sting of loves lost passion? Well it is true that alcohol has the ability to magically erase our emotional pain. Yet when the good times pass that hard crash of reality will still be there. Have a beer or two, hell, I have drowned my love-lost sorrows too so I would not hold you from doing the same. But I wish to inform you to be good to yourself and do not inflict too much more pain on yourself with a hangover. Have your beer(s), enjoy your time, and tomorrow eat a s_hit load of chocolate and go shopping.
Good luck.
Oh, your a man. Well chocolate is good for us too but have a pick up game of football or rugby and kick-a-z-z.

I just had a catheter ablation of the heart to cure SVT, how long does it take for the heart to heal ?
I'd like to hear from someone who had this procedure as to how they felt during the recovery period. I know I shouldn't lift more than 10 pounds and should take it easy, but how did you feel in the weeks after the procedure?
- ANSWER:
Did I just answer your question earlier regarding catheter ablation for SVT? Basically if done correctly, the procedure is very effective and as you know, usually means that you no longer have to take medication. You should be back to normal within 3 weeks- even sooner really.
It isn't open heart surgery which you had as you know, the catheter was inserted through a vein in your groin, so it's comparatively noninvasive compared to open chest surgery. Recovery time is pretty quick.

What condition associated with shocks does passing a large current through the heart fail to cure?
A. Return fibers to resting position
B. Uniform polarization of the heart membranes
C. Start the heart functioning again
D. All of the above is accomplished by passing a large current through the body
- ANSWER:
short version: the answer is C
The large current you are talking about is a defibrillator. Defibs polarize (or depolarize) the entire heart at once. This way it can beat in sync again (B). This will return a fibrillating heart to it's resting position (A). But defib however will not bring a dead heart back to life (C). This is contrary to what you see in TV shows where the patient has flatlined and you defib him 10 times and suddenly he comes back to life.
